CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Let us simplify what may otherwise seem complicated.
We realize you and your loved ones are more than a label. Using common diagnostic terms can aid understanding and help guide treatment solutions.
Academic or Educational Problems
Academic or educational problems can be caused by a number of factors.
If a student is performing well below expectation in a certain subject such as writing, reading, or math; he or she may be suspected of having a learning disability. However, difficulties with academic performance can also be caused by other factors such as performance anxiety or difficulties with attention or hyperactivity.
When these are the causes it is more likely a student will have academic problems across multiple subjects but this is not always the case. In some cases, executive functioning difficulties or even mood disorders or trauma can create academic problems.
It’s not always easy to determine the underlying factors that create these difficulties.
During the initial consult, your Serin Center specialist will work to develop a plan of action that might include psychoeducational testing, neuropsychological testing, or therapy as a few examples.
We can also work with schools for 504 plan or Individual Educational Plan recommendations based on individual needs.
