Call or text us at 623-824-5051 and we will schedule you for a one hour appointment with a doctor or specialist as soon as possible in Peoria, Scottsdale, or on teletherapy- whichever is most convenient to you! Together with your specialist you’ll create a plan of action to reach your goals and improve your life.

Prior to your appointment, we will send you an intake packet to fill out so we can make the most of your time. During your one-hour intake session either in Peoria, Scottsdale, or via telehealth you will discuss history, symptoms, concerns, and you and your specialist will develop a comprehensive treatment plan to reach all of your goals.

If the client is under 18 years old, parents or guardians will be in the first appointment without the child in Peoria, Scottsdale, or on teletherapy. Together with the specialist, you’ll create a comprehensive plan of action. We do not include the child in the first appointment because it’s important not to discuss sensitive or traumatizing information in front of the child. When the adults have a safe space, they can freely discuss all of their concerns with the specialist, and our treatment gets off to a better start.

We will work to get you in as quickly as possible and strive to make booking future appointments easy.

We are an out-of-network provider of insurance. This means our clients pay at the time of the service and we can provide "super bills" to submit for reimbursement. Clients then receive funds directly from their insurance companies. We cannot guarantee reimbursement or inform patients of what will be covered, as insurance plans vary. For pricing questions, please call or email our help desk.

Serin Center is an approved vendor for Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) and we can accept Class Wallet payments.

When in the online ESA portal, there is a list of approved vendors and you can select Serin Center as the vendor and choose the dollar amount, category of service, and payment will be sent to us. Because of recent delays in ESA processing times, it’s faster to have the ESA/Class Wallet debit card so we can process payment immediately and there is no delay in starting services.

Yes, however, please check with your plan to ensure that your HSA will reimburse you for your services at our facility.

We ask that if you cannot make your scheduled appointment, you give us 2 business days' notice to avoid any charges to the card on file.

We ask parents to attend the first intake appointment without their child so we can discuss sensitive information and get a thorough history. This helps us get a better start for a better outcome. Children waiting while we discuss information without them can often become anxious, and if we discuss sensitive topics in front of them they can also get emotionally triggered and sometimes parents may be less forthcoming of the real issues.

We have had many sessions where parents insisted they bring their child or teen to the appointment only to realize it would have been better to have the entire time to go through history and discuss goals with the parents.

If you have a concern about this, please let our staff know and we can discuss it. Otherwise, please trust that our methods are carefully crafted after over 17 years of experience helping thousands of clients!

Unless an adult is under guardianship or severely mentally ill, we request that adults take responsibility for scheduling their appointments rather than a third party.

However, if we have a release of information on file for a spouse or partner who is a patient, you can make an appointment for them and be informed of when appointments are set. Regardless of who makes the appointment, the client will be responsible for our cancellation policy. The client can also revoke the release of information at any time.

We strive to make appointment setting as easy as possible so we can assist in improving your life!

Yes! We are an APPIC accredited Post-Doctoral training site as part of the Arizona Training Consortium and train both PhD and PsyD practicum students, Doctoral Interns, and Post-Doctoral Fellows in Neuropsychology. We offer rotations in pediatric neuropsychology, adult neuropsychology, EMDR therapy, CBT therapy, quantitative electroencephalograms (qEEG), neurofeedback, neuromodulation, and have some opportunities for research. Applications can be sent to [email protected] to be considered. Start times are flexible throughout the year but most programs start in August or September with interviews being conducted January-March.

We use 19 channels to train vs. 2 or 4 channels- which means more brain areas get trained at once and we can train areas others can't. We use top-of-the-line equipment and upgrade it regularly for the best results. We get a live read of the brain's activity in real-time while we train for better results.  We have BCIA-certified and eligible staff who are highly trained. We also integrate home programs and other therapies to make the overall program more efficient and effective.  Where other programs may need 80-100 sessions for a partial result, we can typically get a better result in about 30 sessions depending on the individual's brain activity and health behaviors.

Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback that is non-invasive and can make the brain's activity more efficient in real-time. Biofeedback refers to any data that can signal a person to alter their functioning (e.g. a heart rate monitor signaling the heart rate is high so an athlete slows down their running pace).

Serin Center uses the same high-level equipment and methods for neurofeedback on pro-athletes and CEOs as they do for children with ADHD, autism, mood dysregulation, and other issues.

EMDR Therapy is an eight-phase comprehensive therapy that embeds cognitive-behavioral techniques within the approach. EMDR adds bi-lateral stimulation in the form of eye movements and/or vibrations and tones to help desensitize trauma and produces faster outcomes.

A therapy intensive simply means longer therapy sessions and more sessions in a shorter amount of time. Most people associate therapy with one hour per week of service because talk therapy doesn't yield the kind of benefit that EMDR therapy can provide. Our therapy is not designed to help people cope with issues. We aim to process the issues for real life change and that can often be accomplished with therapy intensives that give immediate relief and more profound results.

If an intensive is recommended, there are many reasons. One is that busy professionals often like getting more done in one session. This reduces the "fixed cost" of making an appointment, driving or showing up to a session, shifting mindset, etc.

Another reason is if we need a result quickly and it may take 2-3 hours to accomplish. If someone is having panic attacks or PTSD, for example, we would rather have them cured in one or two longer sessions without an entire week separating the sessions than prolong their suffering for several weeks while they come in one hour at a time.

Another reason is when people live out of town and fly in for sessions at our clinic. Even though teletherapy can be just as helpful as in-person therapy, we want to make the most of the time in clinic for our clients.

And finally, we find that longer sessions can save clients time and money because the "deep" processing part of the session lasts longer and more gets accomplished. We find that a two-hour appointment is actually equivalent to 2.5 one-hour appointments and a three-hour appointment is equivalent to 4 one-hour appointments due to less time getting comfortable, warming up, and closing the session down.

Many of our treatments can work in conjunction with medication or can replace medication. However, we do not prescribe medication so changes should be discussed with your prescribing doctor. We can submit information to your doctor with a release of information on file. In our experience, many medications are not providing the results intended. Aside from guessing at how they are working, our quantitative electroencephalogram results give real data as to what is happening in the brain.

A psychoeducational evaluation is used for academic planning and to determine special services for a school-aged child or adolescent. A neuropsychological evaluation is a more lengthy, thorough assessment that measures executive functions, memory, functional brain measures, and leads to a medical or psychological diagnosis.

A psychoeducational evaluation is used for school-aged children or adolescents to determine academic abilities and the need for special services. An IEE is similar although it is usually conducted by a private clinic or center and paid for by a school after the school has conducted its own testing and the child needed to be re-tested.

No, we do not.

Any forensic assessments need to go through an attorney. The attorney contacts us with basic information and we schedule a brief call with Dr. Serin if she can possibly take on the assessment.  In general, assessments take about 4 weeks to complete with an intake appointment, 2 days of testing 3-4 hours each, and then a feedback/results session with a report. We would not decide who would do the assessment until we understand the nature of it. The cost varies per assessment and it depends on what is being assessed, which doctor or psychometrist is completing the assessment, what records need reviewing, and how fast the patient takes all of the tests.
